A Celebrity Skincare Line That Delivers

My verdict: MEET. Products from YISE Beauty have become part of my daily routine. Shop my YISE favorites here. Any available What I Expected discount codes will appear with this link.

As a former entrepreneur, I'm a big fan of startups. Add in the adorable and relatable Molly Sims and an endorsement from Emese, and you've got my attention.

That said, my experience with celebrity beauty brands has been hit or miss. A famous face doesn't necessarily mean a good formulation.

In this instance, Molly did her homework. And with a name just one letter away from Holly, I figured Molly deserved to be held to a particularly high standard.

What I Expected (the Promise)

YISE Beauty promises effective, science-backed skincare that delivers visible results with uncomplicated routines and gentle formulations. The brand focuses on the changing needs of women's skin, particularly as we age.

Their promises include:

  • Gentle but effective formulations

  • Brighter, smoother, more hydrated skin

  • Products that support the skin barrier

  • Simple routines that deliver visible results

  • Premium skincare with thoughtful ingredients

What Happened (real life)

When YISE first launched in 2023 (originally as YSE Beauty), I ordered almost one of everything. Three years later, I'm still a customer. I've liked almost everything I've tried from YISE Beauty, but three products have earned a regular place in my routine.

Below is everything I’ve tried: (My favorites are linked here)

  • Xtremely Quenched peptide moisturizer (EXCEED status)

  • Your Favorite Ex exfoliating pads (EXCEED status)

  • Xtreme Glow dewy peptide serum (MEET & use daily)

  • Wide Awake brightening eye cream (MEET & use daily)

  • Skin Glow sunscreen (Chemical SPF formulation)

  • The Problem Solver

  • Take It Off cleanser

  • Vacation Glow highlight stick

  • Xtremely Rich moisturizer (too rich for me, but that is the name)

Implied Expectations (what I was led to believe)

YISE positions itself as a premium skincare brand, so I expect long-term results combined with an immediate payoff. I also expect great packaging and an elevated customer experience.

When the brand first launched, I had a few minor complaints. After subscribing to Your Favorite Ex for a while, I had what felt like five million empty containers. The shipping boxes were also considerably larger than necessary.

But remember, I know what the other side looks like, so I'm willing to give a brand a little grace. When you're launching a company, you're figuring out formulations, packaging, shipping, suppliers, and about a thousand other things simultaneously. In my opinion, getting the formulations right is the most important part. YISE did that from the beginning.

And to its credit, over time the brand addressed the other issues. Your Favorite Ex now has refill options, and the oversized shipping boxes are no longer an issue.

The website is easy to navigate, and managing subscriptions, including pausing or canceling, has been straightforward. I appreciate a company that gets the product right and continues improving the customer experience.

Bottom Line (who will love these)

MEET (with a few EXCEEDs). YISE Beauty delivers on its promise of effective, gentle skincare, and the brand continues to wow me.

If you're in your 40s, 50s, or beyond and your skin needs more hydration, gentler exfoliation, or a little help looking refreshed, I think this is a brand worth considering.

My must-haves are Your Favorite Ex & the Peptide Stacking Duo. If you can only choose one product in the stacking duo, Xtremely Quenched is also an EXCEED. Wide Awake is a great option for days when I want to look more awake without piling on makeup. Friends also praise the lip gloss, but I haven’t tried it myself. As for the Skin Glow sunscreen, it’s a wonderful product, but I’ve decided to use mineral-based sunscreen, so it’s not part of my daily routine.

The products aren't inexpensive, and not everyone needs a premium skincare routine. I certainly didn't need one in my 20s or 30s. But now in my 50s, YISE is one of my go-to brands.

The best endorsement I can give a startup is that I was excited to support it when it launched, and I'm still paying for its products three years later.
