Holly Bohn Pittman_Founder_WhatIExpected_Brand Reviews

A good review shouldn’t ask whether or not I liked something. It should ask whether the brand and product delivered what they led you to expect.

That’s the idea behind the What I Expected MISS / MEET / EXCEED rating system. I evaluate products, services and experiences against the promises brands make explicitly through advertising and positioning, and the expectations they create implicitly through pricing, packaging, customer experience and category norms.

The Methodology

MISS. MEET. EXCEED.

Three simple ratings to help you know what to expect before you buy, try, book it or live through it.

What I Expected MISS Rating System

MISS

Didn’t live up to the brand’s promises or my expectations. I wouldn’t recommend it.

MEET

Lived up to what I expected. It did what the brand promised and I’d recommend it.

What I Expected EXCEED Rating System

EXCEED

Did more than I expected. It stands out in the category and I’d highly recommend it.

What I Expected_Founder_Holly Bohn Pittman

I’ve been on the other side of the brand promise.

Why my background matters

I’m Holly Bohn Pittman. Before I started reviewing products and brands, I spent more than two-decades building them. I founded a consumer products company, designed and launched hundreds of products, worked with major retailers, and served as a CMO & CEO. I know how expectations get set long before you buy something, and that's the lens I bring to every rating.

Honest reviews you can trust.

My reviews are based on my own research and personal experience. I may receive products for review, and I may earn a commission if you make a purchase through my links, but this never affects my ratings. I only recommend products and services I believe are worth your time and money, and my ratings are not for sale.
