High in protein, also high in stevia.
If you can chug keg beer at a frat party, you have the skills needed to get through this drink quickly.
I’m a huge supporter of small, independent brands. I’ve built and sold a few myself, so I know how hard it is to get a product from idea to shelf—and how easy it is for marketing to take liberties with copy. Which is why, when I think I might have to rate something a MISS, I call in my very official board of directors (my friends).
Here’s the rule: I tell them nothing about my experience. I just ask for theirs.
What I Expected (the promise)
Gramms promised exactly what I want from a protein product:
Delicious taste (specifically: “tastes like lemonade”)
Five ingredients
Clear protein
Free of junk
Gut friendly
No chalky or gritty texture
If you’ve ever suffered through thick, gritty protein sludge, “clear + clean + delicious” sounds like a dream.
My Experience (real life)
They were right about the texture. It’s clear. It’s not chalky. It’s not gritty. That part is a genuine win.
I also love the protein-to-calorie ratio. On paper, this should be a perfect product.
But the “delicious” claim didn’t match my taste buds. To me, it’s very stevia-forward—that unmistakable “fake sugar” taste that some people don’t notice and other people can’t tolerate.
It’s not inedible. It’s just not something I want to sip slowly and enjoy. So you can either chug it fast or water it down (but then you’re committed to it longer, which defeats the purpose for me).
If I had to pick a favorite flavor, it would be Strawberry Açaí. Still stevia-ish, but the most tolerable of the bunch.
Implied Expectations (what I was led to believe)
When a brand says “delicious” and compares it to lemonade, I assume it will be refreshing, easy-to-drink, and genuinely enjoyable, but that wasn’t my experience.
I asked my friends for their honest takes—without telling them mine. One response summed up the general vibe: “I could probably look past the taste for the amount of protein you get, and I’m a fast drinker, but I think it’s the stevia. I just don’t like the taste of fake sugar.”
And I want to be clear: I like the brand and the founders. This is exactly the kind of company I want to root for. If they ever adjust flavors (or offer a less stevia-forward option), I will 100% come back around and retest.
Bottom Line (who needs these)
If you want a clear protein with an excellent protein-to-calorie ratio and you don’t mind stevia, this could be a great fit—especially if you’re a “mix it, chug it, move on” person.
If you’re buying it because you want something that truly tastes like refreshing lemonade and is honestly “delicious,” proceed with caution.
Final verdict: This is a MISS for me.
